I really wanted to like it because I like Mozilla, but a lot of basic things that should work right out of the box just don't. New email notifications are off by default, and enabling them requires you to dig through two different notifications settings, app icon badges don't seem to appear easily, and the horizontal swipe actions are sensitive and fail at the slightest deviation from perfectly horizontal. I would love to give this another shot, should these issues be fixed! : )

Thanks for trying us and we're sorry for these issues! We're working on simplifying notification settings, and we have an improvement for swipe actions coming in 14.0. For the badges, can you check if this is enabled on your phone in your phone's Settings > Apps > Thunderbird > Notification > App Icon Badge? Thanks!

I am incredibly upset that I keep getting a permanent notification about missing permissions to schedule alarms. If I don't want the app to do that, then I don't want to give it permission. Given the open-source nature of the program, it is very frustrating that this happens. The desktop version is wonderful on Linux, but fairly limited on mobile for some reason. At least don't bug users for permissions they do not want to give the app. It isn't a feature I use.

We're sorry for any frustration with the permissions, and our system works this way as an additional layer of privacy protection on Android, bypassing many Google services. To avoid this, using polling which pulls email at a regular interval would probably the best option. We hope this helps explain our development choices!

Used to love this app but it now loads my old emails first. I have thousands of emails going back to 2012 that I leave in the inbox (don't ask!). Now there's literally no way for me to see new ones because I'm only loading 100 emails at a time so I can't see anything but 2012 emails, tried changing sort order, clearing cache, reinstalling & went through all settings. Help pages are mostly questions with no answers. I can't use it like this so I guess I very sadly have to find a new email client.

One of our community members with a very large inbox tried to recreate your issue this week and wasn't able to. We think it may be an IMAP issue, and it would help to know your provider to see if there are any known issues! We still encourage you to open a question at Settings > Get Help, but you can also share that info here and we'll try our best
